Another Charles Barkley Cookie...

(I am copying and pasting these bits from a delightful website full of things Charles has said.)

*Not an exact quote, but a great story: When Charles was playing for the Rockets and the Lakers needed to win one more game to finish up that series (early playoffs), Shaq and he were at the free throw line. Houston was about to win which meant LA had to stay there one more night. Problem was, LA had already packed up and booked flights back to LA, assuming it would be an easy game...Barkley was jawing at Shaq as usual and someone asked him later what he said:[Paraphrased] "I was just asking Shaq if he needed a place to stay here in Houston."

I Love Charles Barkley

Something I just found:

On hypnotism today on the Oprah Winfrey Show, in regards to his terrible golf swing: "I went to go get hypnotised so I would get rid of the yips with my golf swing....all I got was a good nap."

Harriet Tubman

"There was two things I had a right to, liberty and death; If I could not have one I would have the other; for no man should take me alive; I should fight for my liberty as long as my strength lasted, and when the time came for me to go, the Lord would let them take me."

"Freedom is not worth having if it doesn't include the freedom of making mistakes."

Thena's Sweet Voice

Now THIS makes me happy today...

Thena's new cd, Under The Radar, has been released and it is totally available online:

http://www.thenadaremusic.com/products.html.

If you would like to listen to the CD, just click on the MUSIC link on the site and listen to any of the first 12 songs.

I love that even though some friends live far away, I can listen to them sing whenever and wherever I want. It's almost like being with them because during those times they feel so close. To me, that's something pretty close to magic.

Happy Valentines Day, Loving Friends!

Dear Friends,

I hope that you all have a beautiful Tuesday. I thank God big-time for each one of you.

Much Love,
D

There was a feather in my salad...

Dear Henry, dear Henry
There was a feather in my salad
Dear Henry, a FEATHER!!!!

I guess prepackaged and prewashed ("3 times") spinach is not *all that* anymore. Blue/Gray feathers just aren't my kinda fixins. Lunch today quickly turned into a 25 cent Nutty Bar from the school cafeteria... mmm.mmmm. The best thing about those things is that you can eat them layer by layer. :)

My Students

They are the kindest kids ever. They love each other and they love me. They are patient. They are compassionate. They are affectionate and thoughtful. They are generous. They truly love to love others. They are funny. They are clever. They are silly. They are true. They are willing. They are confident. The best thing: They don't eat my lunch. That's not really the best thing, but I sure do appreciate it. It's just really something when I feel like I have more instead of less when the school day comes to a close. Thank you, Honey Pies. :)

The Behavior of Children and Adults

I noticed something about 20 minutes ago... It wasn't for the first time and it was neither a unique nor surprising observation. It was something simple and profound. Both children and adults act so differently when they feel loved.

I'm SOOOO Happy!!!!

A very, VERY dear and maximumly DELIGHTFUL friend recently came back into my life after a number of years of being gone. This friend is BEAUTIFUL and I feel like my heart is in the sky because of this reunion. It feels very, very good and I feel so crazy lucky to have him as my friend. Really, really lucky. :)

Confession

I totally have one to make.

This Kind of Thing Changed My Mind...

about animals in captivity:

http://www.houstonzoo.org/Animal_News/Bruno.aqf

Zoos take in animals from all kinds of places and situations. I wish that wild animals could remain in the free wild. I don't like them getting caged up at all. However, good zoos rescue animals from bad situations and provide spa-like homes for them. They treat them like they are family members, too.
