No Subways or Buses in NYC today!!!

The MTA workers are on strike. People here in NYC are having a very challenging day. Check it out on the news. It's pretty incredible in not-good ways. It's also just flat-out interesting. Links:

*On this website, check out the three court documents from the Supreme Court today. They are included within the first two sections on the page. There is the restraining order and the two injunctions. It's really cool to read original information on the matter.

  • Wow, if that happened in Houston...it would hurt those who could afford it least. The rest of us would continue to motor on.

It's one of the wierd implications to public mass transit. There's a union (which on a bad day might resemble a bunch of thugs in suits) that can cripple the city if they're not happy.

And before you characterize my "thugs" comment as over the top, it's not legal in New York for state employees (the MTA is state-run) to strike. So, organized labor just looks like organized crime in this instance.
